The last time conditions warranted a drought declaration was when former Gov. Gary Herbert issued an executive order on Oct. 15, 2018. At that time, 99% of the state was in a moderate drought, with about 76% of Utah experiencing at least severe drought conditions.
At the time of the declaration in mid-March:
- All of Utah’s 29 counties were experiencing some level of drought.
- Four of Utah’s top 42 reservoirs were less than 20% full.
- Three of Utah’s top 42 reservoirs were less than 5% full.
In conjunction with the Governor's Executive Order Cottonwood Mutual Water Company issued resolution 2021-01 encouraging increased water conservation measures due to the current drought conditions. We ask that each of you take a moment and read the resolution and take the measures you deem necessary to curb the amount of water used each day.
